Valentine's desserts aren't about perfection - they're about baking with love, whether it's cookies, cupcakes, or a big pile of chocolate.

Valentine's Day was always my favourite day of the year when I ran my bakery. I loved doing the deliveries myself and seeing people's faces light up when they realised someone had sent them a box of Valentine's treats. There's just something really special about food made with love - and honestly, nothing beats a homemade dessert on Valentine's Day.

These Valentine's cakesicles start with rich red velvet cake mixed with cream cheese frosting, then are dipped in pink candy melts and decorated with heart sprinkles and edible glitter. The result is a festive, handheld dessert that's perfect for gifting or celebrating at home.
Individual desserts are perfect for date night, especially when they are as delicious as this crème brûlée. Using just four simple ingredients, you can make a silky-smooth custard dessert with a crunchy, crackly top. As well as its divine flavor, this crème brûlée recipe creates a whole sensation in your mouth - hot and cold, smooth and crispy - you have to try it this Valentine's Day.
Treat you and your loved one to the ultimate viral dessert - Dubai chocolate strawberries. Layer fresh, juicy strawberry slices with melted chocolate and the most amazing, crispy pistachio filling. These are so simple and easy to make - you'll be eating them in just 15 minutes!
Valentines Cookies
The best thing about making cookies for Valentine's Day is that they are so easy to personalise to make them perfect for your sweetheart. Decorate however you like, or even make them together as a fun Valentine's date idea.
You only need 4 ingredients to make these delightful little heart-shaped cookies. This sugar cookie dough is inspired by buttery shortbread, allowing the flavors to come through without unnecessary extras. By skipping eggs and keeping the ingredients minimal, these cookies bake up tender and rich, while being perfectly suited for decorating.
These easy cookies will take you to fudgy-chocolate heaven with every bite! They combine cocoa powder and chocolate chips for an intense, rich chocolate flavor and gooey texture. For the crinkled look, roll your cookie dough balls in powdered sugar, and watch them spread out into crackly cookies as they bake.
Treat yourself and your loved one to a batch of the tastiest shortbread cookies. As a real Scot, I had to create a recipe that uses the authentic Scottish shortbread method, which bakes up the most buttery, melt-in-your-mouth cookies. For a romantic flair, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to shape your shortbread cookies.
These striking red velvet cookies will look gorgeous for your Valentine's Day spread, and taste even better! Enjoy chewy cookies loaded with melty white chocolate chips and classic red velvet flavor. I love to make a big batch of these, pop them in little gift bags, and hand them out to my friends and family as a little Valentine's treat.
Linzer cookies aren't just for Christmas! The darling little heart-shaped windows filled with raspberry jam make these cookies ideal for a Valentine's Day treat. And it's not all about looks - each cookie is made up of a soft almond dough that melts in the mouth with each bite.
Chocolate Desserts for Valentine's Day
Is it even Valentine's Day without chocolate? These indulgent chocolate desserts are always my first choice.
These no-bake Brazilian chocolate truffles are the perfect Valentine's Day gift to box up for your loved one. They are everything a V-Day treat should be: rich, smooth, gooey, and full of real chocolate flavor. You'll only need three main ingredients, plus some Vermicelli (chocolate sprinkles) to roll over the outside, giving your truffles some crunch.
This super-simple chocolate mousse is rich, airy, and utterly irresistible. Made with the highest quality ingredients, it combines the lightness of a French-style mousse with the smooth stability of Swiss meringue, delivering a perfect texture and flavor without any raw eggs.
My gooey chocolate brownies make for the best Valentine's dessert. They've got the perfect balance of fudgy centers and shiny, crackly tops. My secret? I use a mix of melted chocolate and melted butter for the silkiest batter. To make them extra romantic, cut the brownies out with a heart-shaped cutter!
If you want to impress this Valentine's Day - this recipe is for you! Make these mini chocolate desserts for your loved one to show them just how much they mean to you! Using just six ingredients and a few simple steps, you'll have the most satisfying, gooey, chocolate-loaded desserts that are perfect for date night.
Valentines Cake Ideas
Cake is perfect for Valentine's Day - it can be fancy and showstopping, or sweet and simple, but it's always tasty!
How adorable are these fairy cakes? Treat your loved one to light and fluffy vanilla cupcakes topped with pink Russian buttercream and love-heart sprinkles. They're perfect for gifting, enjoying as a romantic late-night snack, or batch-baking for your Galentine's get together.
This chocolate strawberry cake is the ultimate Valentine's dessert. To complement the rich, chocolate cake, I combine my natural strawberry puree and Italian meringue buttercream to create an authentic strawberry frosting. And of course, it has to be decorated with drips of homemade chocolate ganache and chocolate-covered strawberries.
Encapsulate the color of love with my fluffy little red velvet cupcakes topped with tangy cream cheese frosting. I tested this recipe countless times to perfect that classic red velvet flavor, while keeping the texture moist, fluffy, and velvety, of course. These babies taste just as wonderful as they look, and are a true Valentine's Day staple in my books.
Nothing quite says romance like a yummy batch of tender, fluffy cupcakes with immense chocolate flavor, topped with a silky-smooth chocolate buttercream. I use a mix of sour cream, oil, and milk to create an ultra-moist cake with the two-bowl method - so you don't need all the faff of soft butter and the creaming method. These cupcakes are effortlessly simple, while tasting like they're fresh out of a bakery!
Bake up these dreamy raspberry cupcakes for your special someone - or your besties! Every element is infused with real raspberries, from the soft sponge and buttercream frosting to the surprise coulis center. You can use fresh or frozen raspberries in this recipe, so the cupcakes will always have a ripe flavor.
There's no sign of artificial flavorings here - this cake is made with real strawberries for an authentic strawberry flavor. Layer four scrumptious strawberry cake layers with tangy cream cheese frosting (it works SO well with the strawberries), and decorate with homemade whipped cream and fresh strawberries.
Chocolate and strawberry are the ultimate flavor duo when it comes to Valentine's baking, so combining them to make delicious cupcakes was a no-brainer. Top rich and fluffy chocolate cupcakes with a swirl of smooth strawberry meringue buttercream (made with real strawbs, of course), and a chocolate-covered strawberry to make your cupcakes extra luxurious.
Easy Valentine Desserts
Need a last-minute emergency plan? (Hey, no judgment here). These quick and easy Valentine's desserts will impress even if you are short on time or new to baking.
Take this Wimbledon classic to the next level with lashings of fresh Chantilly cream. Strawberries and cream are one of my favorite flavor combos (just like in my berry Chantilly cake), so making this 5-minute dessert is a no-brainer on Valentine's Day. Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until medium-stiff peaks form, and scoop into glass bowls with slices of fresh strawberries.
A little box of these no-bake chocolate-covered cookie dough bites makes the perfect Valentine's Day present. Plus, they're perfectly safe for everyone to eat, containing no raw eggs. Make these babies ahead of time, and freeze until V-Day.
Who knew strawberry brownies could taste so good? To make these fudgy-fruity brownies, stir my sweet strawberry puree into the white chocolate brownie mixture and add in some white chocolate chips to make the brownies extra gooey. Once baked and cooled, spread over a thick layer of strawberry ganache and decorate with slices of fresh strawberries.
This chocolate torte tastes absolutely unbelievable and has a silky, custard-like texture, but is one of the easiest recipes on the site. With just four ingredients, it is simple to make but decadent and impressive.
Thoughtful V-Day Packaging Ideas
Make your Valentine's desserts feel extra special with a few simple touches:
- Themed cupcake cases - Add a festive pop with heart or floral designs, and/or vibrant colors like red and pink.
- Treat bags - Anything looks fancy when placed in a cellophane bag and tied with a string or ribbon!
- Ribbon - A classic way to make your packaging feel a bit more romantic is with some red or pink ribbon! Tie it around your box or bag, or simply stick on a little homemade bow.
- Personalized messages or love notes - A little note for your loved one adds a sweet, personal touch to your bakes.
- Roses - Pop a few rose petals amongst your baked goods, or if they're displayed on a plate, you could even shape the petals into a big love heart around the treats.
- Lipstick kisses - A cheeky, flirty detail that adds a lovely touch to your packaging - it works best on paper boxes.
- Heart stickers - Perfect for sealing bags or boxes.

Presentation and Plating
If you are serving your desserts at home, it's easy to spruce them up for a little fancy flair. Place your desserts onto individual plates, then add any combination of these final touches:
- Dust with powdered sugar
- Add a swirl of chantilly cream or chocolate whipped cream and some fresh berries on the side.
- Drizzle with chocolate ganache, strawberry coulis, or homemade caramel sauce
- If you're feeling extra fancy, you could even pipe a romantic message onto the plate with some tempered chocolate.

My Valentine's Baking Essentials
Many of my Valentine's recipes share ingredients and tools, so I've rounded up the season's must-haves - the staples I always reach for to make V-Day extra special.
- Heart-shaped cookie cutter - This cute cutter set is great for cookies, brownies, and traybakes.
- Red gel food coloring - Be sure to use a gel food coloring for your colorful bakes (like red velvet brownies, royal icing, and ganache for strawberry brownies). The liquid versions from the grocery store tend to be too weak, so they won't give you that rich, vibrant hue.
- High-quality chocolate - For a rich, intense chocolate flavor, a high-quality chocolate makes all the difference. For things like chocolate ganache, chocolate buttercream, fudgy brownies, and chocolate-covered strawberries, a real bar of chocolate with a cocoa content of 53-75% is best - the higher the content, the more intense the flavor will be. Avoid candy bars and chocolate chips, as they are designed not to melt. For other treats such as chocolate cupcakes, crinkle cookies, and red velvet brownies, Dutch-processed cocoa powder makes the bakes nice and moist with a strong chocolate flavor.
- Valentine's sprinkles - Adding seasonal sprinkles is a simple way to give your Valentine's desserts personality. Small hearts, rose shapes, or pink and red accents make each treat feel thoughtfully finished.
- Strawberries - A lot of my Valentine's Day recipes use strawberries for their sweet flavor and natural color. More specifically, my strawberry puree is the best way to add real strawberry flavor using fresh or frozen strawberries, so you can bake the ripest tasting desserts wherever you are in the world! It works so well as a surprise filling in my strawberry cupcakes, swirled into strawberry brownies, or paired with chocolate strawberry cake or chocolate and strawberry cupcakes.
