Homemade Scones

Buttery, melt-in-the-mouth homemade scones recipe.

Mix together the dry ingredients, then cut the butter in until it is in pea-sized lumps.

Step 1

Add the wet ingredients and mix just until it forms a shaggy dough.

Step 2

Gently knead the dough by folding it in half, and half again, then pressing down. Repeat 3 times.

Step 3

Form the scone dough into a rough circle and cut into 8 wedges.

Step 4

Chill the scones on a baking sheet for 30 minutes, then brush with egg wash or buttermilk.

Step 5

Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and risen.
