Custard Pie

You'll Need: Eggs Egg Yolk Whole Milk Heavy Cream Sugar Vanilla Salt Pie Dough (recipe in the post)

Step 1: Make the pie dough according to the recipe, or buy a pre-made pie crust.  Line a pie dish and par-bake it. 

Step 2:  Whisk the eggs, egg yolk, and sugar together until combined.

Step 3: Heat the milk, cream, and vanilla until scalding, then slowly whisk it into the egg mixture to temper the eggs.

Step 4:  Pour the custard into the par-baked pie crust. Top with nutmeg and brush egg wash on the edges of the pie.

Step 5:  Bake for 40 minutes until the outer edge is firm but the middle is still jiggly.

Step 6:  Let the pie cool and then chill for at least 4 hours before slicing and serving.
