Custard Cake

Ridiculously soft and fluffy vanilla sponge layered with creamy custard buttercream and a pool of rich custard in the middle!

You'll Need: Eggs Milk Flour Sugar Butter Vanilla Cornstarch

Step 1: Make the custard (pastry cream) ahead of time so it has time to cool.

Step 2: Add all dry ingredients to stand mixer.

Step 3:  Mix the butter in one chunk at a time. It should resemble large breadcrumbs.

Step 4:  Add the milk and oil and beat for exactly two minutes.

Step 6:  Add the eggs and remaining oil, beat until just combined. Bake at 335°F for 30-40 mins.

Step 7:  Whip half the custard with butter to make custard buttercream.

Step 8  Fill and decorate with the buttercream with a layer of pastry cream in the middle and on top.
